The Nigeria-China Economic Forum at the Wells Carlton Hotel, Abuja, served as a vital platform to enhance collaboration between our nations. Hosted by Overseas Business Development Synergy Limited (OBDSL), the event featured high-level discussions, announcement of the signing of operational MoUs, and actionable insights into advancing trade, investment, and innovation.
Dele Oye Esq., National President of NACCIMA, emphasized the need for businesses interested in Nigeria to focus on understanding the market, building strong partnerships, and embracing innovation. With a population of over 200 million, Nigeria offers immense opportunities as Africa’s largest economy. Trusted institutions like NACCIMA facilitate smooth market entry and help businesses adapt to sustainability and global initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The event highlighted several operational agreements signed in China, including the establishment of electric vehicle companies in Gombe, Oyo, and Abuja, and the construction of an electric tricycle company. Other achievements include the creation of Nigeria’s first renewable energy academy through an MoU between REA and MCC of China, and the establishment of a renewable energy testing center in partnership with Huawei.
Agricultural trade facilitation was also a key focus. The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth bilateral trade in agricultural commodities through quarantine audits, bilateral trade protocols, import permits, and inspection and certification processes. The Presidential CNG Initiative was spotlighted as a groundbreaking program leveraging private capital crowdfunding to drive the development of Nigeria’s compressed natural gas infrastructure, fostering sustainable energy solutions for businesses and households.
As Nigeria’s leading private-sector platform, NACCIMA remains dedicated to guiding businesses through the regulatory landscape, connecting them to opportunities in key sectors, and advocating for favorable policies. This forum is a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria-China partnerships, paving the way for innovation, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
