International Oil Palm Summit 2026

Efforts are ongoing to reposition Nigeria as a globally competitive palm oil producer once again. In this regard, the Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria under the leadership of Barr. Joe Onyuike organized the maiden International Oil Palm Summit 2026, today, 19th May 2026 at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Abuja.

The summit brought together eminent personalities including Ambassadors, industry players, representatives of NACCIMA and the Organized Private Sector (OPS), development partners, investors, and other key stakeholders within the agricultural and industrial value chain.

The event was co-organized in partnership with BusinessDay Media, Cross River State Government, and First City Monument Bank (FCMB), with the objective of promoting investment opportunities, enhancing collaboration, and advancing the development of Nigeria’s oil palm industry.

The summit was chaired by the National President of NACCIMA, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON (represented by Arc. Kabir Ibrahim, fnia, NABG), who emphasized the strategic importance of revitalizing Nigeria’s oil palm sector as a catalyst for economic diversification, industrialization, export growth, food security, and job creation.

Goodwill messages and presentations were delivered by several distinguished guests and stakeholders. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran highlighted the importance of international cooperation and trade partnerships in agricultural development and agro-processing.

A presentation was also delivered on behalf of the Ambassador of Indonesia, showcasing Indonesia’s remarkable success story in transforming its oil palm industry into one of the leaders globally. The presentation highlighted best practices in plantation development, value chain integration, processing capacity, export competitiveness, and policy support mechanisms that have sustained Indonesia’s leadership in the global palm oil market.

Furthermore, the Trade Commissioner of the Russian Trade Mission in Nigeria delivered a presentation on emerging opportunities for bilateral trade, investment collaboration, technology transfer, and agricultural mechanization between Nigeria and Russia within the palm oil and agro-industrial sectors.

Participants at the summit engaged in productive discussions on strategies for boosting local production, improving value addition, encouraging private sector participation, enhancing access to finance, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and strengthening Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global palm oil market.

The summit concluded with a collective call for increased investment, policy consistency, public-private collaboration, and regional partnerships aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a major player in the global palm oil industry.
