The West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) and Conference 2024 organized by BtoB Events Limited in partnership with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) kick started yesterday 14th May 2024, at the Landmark Exhibition Center, Victoria Island, Lagos. Present at the event were Dele Kelvin Oye, Esq, National President, NACCIMA accompanied by the Director General of NACCIMA Sola Obadiimu.
In his opening remarks, the National President welcomed the participants to the Conference. He stated that their attendance was proof of the growing significance and important role of the automotive industry in shaping the economic landscape of West Africa and beyond. In his words, ‘NACCIMA will remain unyielding in its traditional role of leading industries to the market, championing the interests of the Nigerian business community and advocating for conditions that foster the growth as well as competitiveness of our industries. As a unified voice of Nigerian business, it is the duty of NACCIMA to facilitate the platform where industries leaders, innovators, and policy makers converge to explore billion dollar opportunities’, he said.
He also stated that the exhibition would not only showcase products and services but would serve as an excellent opportunity to weave the very fabric of an integrated and resilient automotive sector and to catalyze a transformation that would see Nigeria and West Africa becoming a hub of automotive excellence.
Apart from the critical issues that the conference and the exhibition would delve into, he said it would chart a new course for sustainable industrial growth that is in alignment with global best practices.
Other dignitaries at the event included: Mr. Joseph Osanipin, Director General National Automotive Manufacturing Design and Development Council (NADDC) – representing the Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite; Mr. Luqman Mahmudu, Conference Chairman; Georgina Lloyd, Group Exhibition Manager (BtoB Events ); Mr. Sam Faleye, Chief Executive Officer, SAGLEV Motors, Hon.Ngozi Emechebe, President, Auto Spare Parts & Dealers Association (ASPMDA) and representative of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, Mrs. Olumuyiwa Ajayi-Ade.
There was a tour of Exhibition stands after it was declared open by the invited guests.
