NACCIMA Roundtable Breakfast Meeting on Trade and Export Competitiveness

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) hosted a consultative Breakfast Meeting on Trade and Export Competitiveness today, Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at the Radisson Hotel.

The meeting, themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Export Potential: Policy Alignment, Private-Sector Readiness, and Trade Facilitation,” provided a strategic platform to examine how export-led growth can serve as a catalyst for Nigeria’s economic transformation. Deliberations focused on strengthening export promotion frameworks, enhancing private-sector capacity, and addressing persistent structural and policy bottlenecks that continue to constrain Nigeria’s trade competitiveness.

In her keynote address, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Lagos State Government, Mrs. Folashade Kaosarat Bada Ambrose, highlighted Nigeria’s continued reliance on crude oil exports while noting the steady expansion of the non-oil export sector. She emphasized that the trajectory of sustainable economic growth is increasingly tied to improved export performance, particularly within agro-processing, manufacturing, and the solid minerals sectors.

Mr. Taiwo Ajetunmobi, representing Mr. Joseph Tegbe, Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), delivered a presentation on “Unlocking Nigeria’s Export Potential,” where he outlined three critical pillars necessary for achieving export competitiveness: Policy Alignment, Private-Sector Readiness, and Trade Facilitation Excellence. His presentation underscored the importance of coordinated policy implementation, capacity building for businesses, and efficient trade processes in positioning Nigeria for global market participation.

The meeting attracted key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. Chief Host was Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, National President of NACCIMA who was ably represented by Alhaji Yahaya Idris, President of BACCIMA and National Vice President, NACCIMA.
Others included: Chief Kayode Adeyemi, NVP and former President of ODUACCIMA; Barr Jasper Nduagwuike, National Vice-President in charge of Mexico and the Americas;
Mr. Ibukun Efuntayo, CEO, Ibukun Efuntayo & Co.; Mr. Chigozie Okpara of the Euro Chamber of Commerce; Mrs. Oyefunke Oworu, NACCIMA’s Internal Consultant and former Commissioner for Commerce & Industry in Oyo State and Hajiya Amina Lawal-Aliyu, Head, Trade Facilitation, NACCIMA.

Also in attendance were representatives from sponsors including Colenson Brokers, Alternative Credit and Assets Ltd, WVL Development Advisors, Meristem Securities Ltd, Advocate Law Practice, Keystone Bank, Salbodi Group Ltd, JEE Limited, and Sunbath Global.

The event ended with presentation of awards coordinated by Mrs. Oworu, followed by a Vote of Thanks by the Director-General, Sola Obadimu, group photographs and networking.
