The 19th edition of the Abuja International Trade Fair officially kicked off on September 23, 2024, under the theme “Mobility: Options for Transportation, Trade Finance, and Taxation.”
The opening ceremony featured goodwill messages from several dignitaries, including Hon. Otunba Dele Oye, Esq., National President of the NACCIMA, who was ably represented by Alh. Jani Ibrahim, first Deputy President of NACCIMA. The goodwill message applauded the achievements of ACCI in creating a platform that connects businesses. The importance of efficient transportation, accessible trade finance, and fair taxation in enhancing Nigeria’s global trade position was emphasized.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by representatives from the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), the Dangote Group, the Chinese Embassy, the Bulgarian Embassy, the Indian High Commission, the Ugandan High Commission, Nile University, and other notable figures. The ceremony also saw the commissioning of Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar Drive, led by Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, President of ACCI, along with distinguished Executive and Council members of ACCI, including Alh. Jani Ibrahim, 1st Deputy President of NACCIMA, honoring the former ACCI president for his contributions to commerce.
Another key moment was the introduction of the National Policy Fellowship (NPF) and the investiture of nominees. These included past presidents of ACCI such as Otunba Dele Oye, Esq., National President of NACCIMA, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, and Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye. Prominent figures and nominees also recognized were Ide John C. Udeagbala, NPOM, KSJI, past President of NACCIMA, Amb. Nura Abba Rimi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb. Nicholas Agbo Ella, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Anthony Ojukwu, OFR, SAN, FICM, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, Immediate Past Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja, Dr. Charles Odii, Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mrs. Chioma Njoku, Mr. Michael Ango, Dr. Chijioke Ekechukwu, among others.
