The NACCIMA-GABA Delegation made history in Lansing, Michigan, with a strategic meeting at the Michigan State Capitol Building, located at 100 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933. The delegation, led by Dele Kelvin Oye Esq., President of NACCIMA, and Akindele Akinyemi, President of the Global African Business Association (GABA), met with Michigan State Senators Sarah Anthony and Erika Geiss. Senator Sarah Anthony, the first African-American woman elected to both the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate, also serves as the first Black woman to chair the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. Senator Erika Geiss, another influential leader in the state legislature, was also in attendance.

During the meeting, NACCIMA and GABA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their cooperation in building stronger ties between Africa and the United States. The MoU, signed by NACCIMA National President Dele Kelvin Oye and GABA Group Chief Executive Officer O. Rerhi Onomake, marked a significant milestone in fostering increased collaboration and enhancing trade relations between Nigeria and Michigan. This strategic partnership is aimed at exploring broader opportunities for economic development across both regions, promoting trade links, and creating new opportunities between the African-Caribbean Diaspora and the State of Michigan.

The MoU was witnessed by Senators Anthony and Geiss, who expressed support for the initiative and emphasized the importance of building stronger economic and cultural ties between Michigan and African countries. The engagement underscores a commitment to strengthening partnerships and creating sustainable platforms for mutual growth and development.
