The German Chamber Collaboration Project (KVP) Project team paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) National Secretariat in Lagos on Thursday, 24th July 2025. The visit aimed to engage with the Director General and other relevant members of Staff of NACCIMA to gain deeper insight into the Association’s perspectives on the implementation and possible impact of the KVP Project. The DG gave a summary of current business environment in Nigeria and harped on the urgent need of NACCIMA to institute a Chamber Academy for the purposes of:

1. Helping to raise functional capacities of Chambers, particularly the smaller ones on the need to adhere to the basic principles of good governance including the need for annual audits, basic bookkeeping, transparent and accounting procedures
2. Assisting them to render services to their respective members to justify dues collection and ensure sustainability
3. Encouraging them to embark on advocacy at their respective local levels on issues that beset enterprises within their catchment areas among others.

The KVP team offered to collaborate with NACCIMA to achieve these objectives particularly if the project is renewed as the current phase expires in December this year (2025).

The visit was part of the project’s 1st Phase closeout, designed to gather direct feedbacks from key stakeholders and national partners to guide project assessment, reporting, and future design.

The delegation of the KVP Project team was led by Dr Kirsten Albrecht – Project Director. Other members of the team include Dr. Astrid Denker – the Evaluator, Mr. Ulrich Stein – The Sequa Project Manager, Mr. Nele Lahrmann-Muniru – Project Coordinator and Mr. Sherif Olaleye – Project Manager while on the NACCIMA were the Director General, Olusola Obadimu; Willem Inya, Project focal point and Akin-Rotimi Obagbami, PR Unit at the Secretariat.
