The Lagos State Government held the public launch of the 2025–2030 Lagos State Industrial Policy, tagged “A New Blueprint for Africa’s Industrial Powerhouse,” on Thursday, 30 April 2026, at the Lagos Continental Hotel.
Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade and Investment, stated that the policy was the outcome of extensive stakeholder consultations, data-driven analysis, and alignment with global best practices in industrial planning and sustainable economic growth.
She noted that the policy provided a clear roadmap for economic diversification, reduced import dependence, and increased value addition across key sectors of the state’s economy. She further described the document as one of the most ambitious industrial agendas conceived by the state government in recent history.
Also speaking, Mr. John Enoh, Minister of State for Industry at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, ably represented by Engr. Tope Osinowo, described the policy as a strong strategic signal that Nigeria’s industrialisation will be driven through coordinated action between federal and sub-national governments.
He noted that the Lagos State Industrial Policy aligns closely with the Nigeria Industrial Policy 2025, particularly in its emphasis on infrastructure as the backbone of industrial development, the creation of a competitive and enabling business environment, MSME growth as a driver of industrial depth as well as skills development, innovation, human capital advancement, export competitiveness and sustainable, inclusive industrialisation.
The organised private sector commended the policy while emphasising the critical importance of effective implementation. The National President of NACCIMA, Engr Jani Ibrahim mni, OON was ably represented at the event by the Treasurer/Immediate Past President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Mr. Ayotunde Coker, speaking on behalf of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted that, while Lagos is already emerging as Africa’s digital infrastructure hub, there is a pressing need for the right supporting infrastructure to fully unlock and sustain digital innovation.
The policy, launched by H.E Babajide Sanwo-Olu, outlines a series of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing competitiveness, driving innovation, and attracting investment across key sectors of the economy.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, noted that the policy provided a clear roadmap to reimagine, rebuild, and reposition Lagos State’s industrial sector for the future.
She emphasised that the Lagos Industrial Policy serves as a practical implementation framework that localises national industrial ambitions, accelerates productivity, and positions the state as a strategic gateway for Nigeria’s industrial expansion and global competitiveness.
