India-Nigeria Textile Trade and Investment B2B Forum

Today, Thursday, 7th May 2026, the High Commission of India in Abuja, in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), organized the India–Nigeria Textile Trade and Investment B2B Forum under the theme: “Reviving the Textile Industry in Nigeria.”

The forum brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and the organized private sector to explore opportunities for revitalizing Nigeria’s textile sector through strategic collaboration with India.

The event was well attended by distinguished dignitaries, including H.E. Amb. Abhishek Singh, Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria; H.E. Ms. Vartika Rawat, Deputy High Commissioner of India; Engr. Dr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, President of NACCIMA and Chairman of the Organized Private Sector of Nigeria (represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, 1st Deputy President of ACCI and NACCIMA Focal Person for Indian Relations); Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, President of ACCI (represented by Mr. Agabaidu Jideani, Director General of ACCI); Dr. Emmanuel Akeh, Director, NACCIMA Abuja Corporate Office; and Dr. Hamma Kwajaffa, Director General of the Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association.

The forum featured keynote speeches, technical presentations, and panel discussions that emphasized the strategic importance of reviving Nigeria’s textile industry as a catalyst for industrialization, employment generation, economic diversification, and increased non-oil exports. Discussions also highlighted India’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Nigeria through investment partnerships, technology transfer, skills development, and capacity-building initiatives.

Participants underscored the need for enabling policies, improved infrastructure, access to finance, and sustained public-private collaboration to reposition Nigeria’s textile industry for global competitiveness.

Significantly, the forum provided stakeholders with the opportunity to renew their collective commitment to supporting the revival and sustainable growth of Nigeria’s textile industry through strategic partnerships, policy consistency, investment facilitation, and stronger private sector cooperation between both countries.
