Opening Ceremony of Badagry Trade Fair 2026

The Badagry Chamber of Commerce (BACCIMA) organised Badagry Trade Fair scheduled to hold from May 8- 17 kicked off today at the Lagos International Trade Fair, Ojo. The President of BACCIMA Alhaji Yahaya Idris welcomed exhibitors and participants present, stating that the Maiden Edition of BACCIMA Trade Fair was a strategic platform aimed at promoting local and international trade, supporting SMEs, attracting investments, strengthening cross-border commerce, and fostering regional integration under ECOWAS and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The National President of NACCIMA, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON was ably represented by the Director General, Engr. Sola Obadimu. He commended the Badagry Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines and Agriculture for organizing the trade fair and promoting enterprise development and economic inclusion in Nigeria. Speaking on the theme, “Trading Without Borders,” he emphasized the importance of regional integration, cross-border collaboration, and interconnected African markets as key drivers of economic growth and sustainability.

He highlighted the vast opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which covers over 1.4 billion African people with a combined GDP of more than $3.4 trillion, noting that it offers Nigerian businesses greater access to regional markets, export expansion, and investment opportunities. In light of the above, chambers of commerce have a strategic responsibility to support businesses through advocacy, market linkages, trade facilitation, capacity building, and policy engagement and Badagry is so strategic for West African regional commerce due to its location along major the major trade corridor.
