The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) & Chairman, Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN), Engr. (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, FNSE, FAEng, FCIoD, led an OPSN delegation on a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Adebayo Olawale Edun.
In his address, the National President of NACCIMA/OPSN Chairman commended the Minister for his leadership and commitment towards navigating the Nigerian economy through this particularly challenging period. He also acknowledged the bold and historic economic policy decisions taken by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. These include the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of exchange rates, prioritisation of domestic revenue mobilisation, and ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing public sector efficiency and ensuring budget implementation integrity.
The Chairman further conveyed the concerns of private sector operators and the business community, particularly in relation to possible implications of newly signed tax legislation; the persistent misalignment between the approval and implementation of the national budget cycle; and limited access to trade finance particularly for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which remains a critical constraint.
He reaffirmed OPSN’s role as a credible platform for consultation, feedback, and policy validation, highlighting the OPSN’s capacity to support the dissemination of government reforms and boost investor awareness and confidence.
The Chairman also used the opportunity to seek the Minister’s support and endorsement for the upcoming NACCIMA’s Investment Summit, scheduled for December 2025, which is expected to mobilise capital and promote high-impact investments across priority sectors of the economy.
