The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), in partnership with the SKYE programme implemented by GIZ, hosted the 3rd Private Sector Roundtable on TVET and Workforce Skills Development at the NACCIMA Headquarters.

Representatives from development partners GIZ-SKYE were led by Hannah Petersen, Vocational Training & Labour Market Advisor; Helen Igboka, Programme Component Manager and Modupe Akinwale met with Representatives from all OPSN Organs – NACCIMA, MAN, NECA, NASME, and NASSI. The meeting with GIZ/SKYE was to deepen collaboration on aligning technical and vocational education with Nigeria’s labour market demands.

Discussions focused on sector-specific skills gaps, particularly in construction, ICT, agribusiness, hospitality, and renewable energy.
Stakeholders expressed readiness to support structured work-based learning, internships, and curriculum co-design, while also calling for improved coordination and reduced fragmentation across donor-supported interventions. A key proposal was the establishment of a National Private Sector TVET Alliance and a Skills Coordination Desk to harmonise efforts and strengthen engagement between the Organized Private Sector (OPS), TVET providers, and development partners.

Pilot training engagements were identified in construction (via MAN and NECA), ICT (through NASME and NACCIMA innovation clusters), and hospitality (involving NASSI and NACCIMA MSMEs). SKYE reaffirmed its commitment to co-implement innovation hubs and support structured apprenticeship pilots.

All OPS members agreed to nominate technical focal points and submit sectoral inputs to SKYE, to inform programme design. The roundtable concluded with a shared resolve to build a unified, industry-driven TVET ecosystem that addresses youth employment and national productivity.
