The Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN), comprises NACCIMA, MAN, NECA, NASME and NASSI, held a strategic meeting on 30th January 2026 at the Radisson Hotel, Lagos, to deliberate on critical economic and policy issues affecting Nigeria’s business environment.
Discussions focused on strengthening private sector collaboration, aligning common positions on ongoing economic reforms, and addressing key macroeconomic challenges, particularly the new tax law. Participants explored practical strategies to enhance competitiveness, productivity, and the ease of doing business.
In his remarks, the Chairman of OPSN, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, emphasized that the private sector remains Nigeria’s main driver of growth, employment and innovation but is under significant pressure from rising costs, regulatory bottlenecks, and other structural challenges. He stressed that private sector survival and growth must be treated as a national priority if Nigeria is to achieve inclusive growth and industrial recovery. He called for policy coherence, affordable financing, OPSN Bank, regulation and a supportive green transition to strengthen Nigeria’s productive base.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed OPSN,s role as a unified platform for constructive engagement with the government.
Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman, Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms while addressing the participants on the new tax law, emphasized that the policy is not meant to inflict undue pains on the citizenry but designed to promote equity and fairness. After his remarks, there were questions, suggestions which he noted and responded satisfactorily.
