An Evening of Remembrance: The Christian Wake and Service of Songs for Iyalode Oluwaseun Lawson, A Beacon of NACCIMA

A Christian Wake and Service of Songs were held in honour of the late Iyalode Oluwaseun Lawson, MFR, FIoD, JP, a past National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA). The event occurred. at the Olusegun Obasanjo Library in Abeokuta on the 7th of December 2023.

Iyalode Lawson, who was the first female president and 19th National President of NACCIMA, was a remarkable trailblazer in her field. She dedicated her life to serving the community with her vibrant spirit, eloquent articulation, and boundless motherly warmth.

The current National President of NACCIMA, Dele Kelvin Oye, Esq., was present at the event, where he paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Iyalode Oluwaseun Lawson. He expressed his deep respect and admiration for her contributions to NACCIMA and the larger business community in Nigeria.

 

The event served as a platform to celebrate her life and achievements, and to acknowledge the indelible mark she left on the organization and its members. The service was part of a series of events to honor her memory. Other activities included a special service by the NACCIMA Business Women Group (NAWORG) in Lagos, and a night of tributes held by the ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs.

The African Church of Nigeria also held a Service of Songs in her honor at the Cathedral of St. James’ African Church, Idi-Ape in Abeokuta. The Association of Egba Traders (Egba Lawa), the Oke-Ona Council of Chiefs, Egba Christian Chiefs, and Lawson Group of Schools also held different sessions in honor of the deceased.

The final funeral service took place at the Cathedral of St James’ African Church, Idi-Ape on Friday, 8th December 2023. Iyalode Lawson’s legacy continues to inspire many, and her contributions to NACCIMA and the larger community will always be remembered.
