The Nigerian Shippers' Council that as part of continuous efforts to ensure that all export transactions are carried out through formal channels, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed that "ALL BILLS OF LADING / AIRWAY BILLS / ROAD BILLS IN RESPECT OF EXPORTS FROM NIGERIA SHALL HENCEFORTH CARRY THE FROM NXP NUMBER OF THE ACCOMPANYING CARGO"

Accordingly, all exporters are to ensure compliance and register their Forms NXP with an Authorized Dealer Bank of their choice prior to shipment. This is in line with provisions in Memorandum 11, Section 1(a)(i) of the Foreign Exchange Manual.

Any observation on the CBN directive should be channeled to the Nigerian Shippers' Council for evaluation, to be escalate where necessary to the CBN.
